My First Time!

Believe it or not, but friday night was my first time ever playing along in a
VSN (Virtual Stamp Night) Challenge on SCS!

I don't know why I haven't, but I guess I didn't know what I was missing!!  I did participate in last years National Card Making Day challenges on SCS which worked similarly to the VSN's, but this was my first actual VSN.

If you don't know about VSN's you can find out more about them HERE on SCS.  But basically once a month on Friday evening and Saturdays a group of amazing hostesses host a new themed challenge every hour which you have 45 minutes to complete.  The deadline to upload your cards is by Monday at 10pm. and there are prizes to win and so much fun to be had!

I encourage all of you to participate when you get a chance.  What I liked most about it was challenging myself to come up with a card that I liked in under an hour.  I have been known to drag out my process of card making and it is nice to know that I can actually finish one faster!!  This information can be very helpful given all the deadlines that I tend to have to work under!

The theme of this last VSN was the Olympics.  So the first challenge we were given... FEB10VSNA by Denise (resqbarbie on SCS) was to follow the sketch that was made after the Inukshuk Olympic symbol this year...

And here is the sketch...

Using the new MME Home Paper pad, this is what I came up with...

I used a gray Bazzill paper for my base and also ran a cream colored cardstock through my Script texture CB embossing Folder and inked up the raised parts with my trusty Jumbo Java colored Versamagic ink.  I decided to combine the two lower panels into one (that was an option provided.) It was easy to use coordinated paper to take some of  the work out of making this card!! For VSN challenges it is all about NOT wasting any time!!

The big sunflower from Rubber Stampede was placed to represent the head on the stone figure.  The sentiment is from Impression Obsession which I distressed using the same Jumbo Java ink.  I used my Copics to color in the sunflower.

I will have more of my challenge cards to share with you in the future, but for now I have to run!  Thanks for taking a look and I will see you tomorrow for a sneak peek at some new Whimsie Doodles releases coming up!

It is ugly, cold and drizzling here so this sunflower is just a tease of what I pray will be coming to Florida soon!  Have a wonderful Wednesday and may your bucket overflow with stamps that feel like the sun even if it isn't shining outside!!

YAY! This is super cute! I love VSN, and had it on the calendar, but dinner with friends and a day out of town shopping won me over! LOL
