Book Mark with a Little Extra!

HIP HOP!!!

Oh how I love Thursdays!!

It is so fun and inspiring to get to see the posts of all the Unity and Ippity DT girls.

What talent I am so blessed to hang out with!!  I hope you like it too!

To start at the beginning, please go to the Unity Blog and then follow along all the blogs and end up at the Ippity Blog for a new tutorial!

If you are coming to me from Karen's blog then you are on the right track... so thank you!

And be sure to join us throughout the day on the SCS Unity Forum
for some chatting time with the Unity and Ippity DT members!!

I was inspired by this week's Tutorial on SCS by Beate Johns!  She gave us amazing instructions to make a book mark that fits on the corner of  a book to mark the page that you last read.  It is so cute and I am so happy to have tried to make one!

Here is the link to the Corner Book Mark Tutorial on SCS!

And here is my take on it!

You might have noticed that I added a little extra bit to my book mark by way of a tag on a ribbon.  I think it adds a nice touch and allowed me to use both parts of the stamp set called Books a Flutter by Ippity.  I adore this stamp set.  But believe it or not, this is the first time I have inked it up since its' release!!

The DP I used is from Pink Paislee's 365 Degrees paper collection.  I used Paper piecing to add color to the spines of all the books.  I also added some Copic Markers for shading and effect!  The butterfly was colored with Copics and then I added the sparkle with a Gelly Roll pen!  The shape that frames the books is Labels Twelve from Nestabilities and I added an extra small hand cut frame around it with red to make it pop better!

This sentiment was stamped onto a Labels Ten from Nestabilities and then I cut the shape twice but the second time with some of the DP and then cut it into strips and added it to the base to frame out the words.  The back of the tag which isn't shown is in the coordinating red DP.

Here you can see how the bookmark is when it is positioned inside the book.  I used a Martha Stewart Border punch in two layers for the bottom of the book mark.

And here it is showing how the book mark tag hangs out while the book is closed. So what do you think??
Thanks Beate for another great tutorial!!

I would love to hear any good recommendations for books that you suggest for some summer reading!  I am about to finish reading New Moon in the hopes to quickly read Eclipse so I can go and see the new movie!  What is a recent favorite book of yours??

Thanks for stopping by my blog today and please head over to Lisa Arana's blog now for some more amazing Ippity inspiration!!  Have fun!!

Next Blog

Have a wonderful day and may your bucket overflow with lots of good books for your reading pleasure!!

What a fabulous bookmark!!

I loved the whole Twilight series. When I finished them, I read The Secret Lives of Bees which was wonderful too. The shopaholic series is also good fun light reading!

As for books, I just finished Time Travelers Wife which I enjoyed but I didn't care for the movie. I just started Dear John.
