Man's Best Friend With Flair!!

Man's Best Friend with Flair!

Ha ha!! How do you like that blog title??  Can you guess that my FWF project for today is going to include our dog?  Well if you did, you are absolutely right!!

I used this week's Simple Scrapping Sketch Challenge  (USCSSC03) at Unity this week that was given to us by Renee!  It is an awesome sketch and it was perfect for one of the layouts that I needed to make for Tasha's first year album!!

If you are a Fan Club Member at SCS you can view the album cover that I made for our dog!  It was one of my last submissions as a Dirty Girl.  Click HERE if you want to see it!

Here is Renee's sketch...
I altered the sketch for my personal use because instead of a one page layout, I needed a two paged 8 x 8 layout.  So I stretched the layout width wise and added an extra panel.  I also flipped the circle embellishment to the left side.

The following stamps were used to make this layout
  • Bitty Backgrounds (circles) were used to create the background that anchored the three pictures and also provided the background behind the doghouse.
  • I Ruff You:  I cut away one of the paws from the strip of paws and stamped it along the rust border and under the title
  • Le Chic Vintage scrapbooking Kit (SBC-100)

The DP I used for this layout is from the DCWV Pet Stack.  The colors worked perfectly with the colors of my puppy and her toys.  I enjoyed curving the lines instead of keeping them straight like the sketch.

I created the title by handwriting TASHA and then using rub-ons for TOYS.  The journaling states...
"We were so excited to get Tasha and couldn't help spoiling her with a lot of new toys.  She is so cute when she plays with her toys...BUT... She doesn't share very well!!"

So there are up to 50 blogs for you to visit today and one of them is hiding the flair blinkie that will get someone a chance to win 25 random stamps from Unity.  To begin the blog at the beginning, you want to stop by the Unity Blog to start at the top of the list!!  Enjoy your hopping!!

Have a great Friday and may your bucket overflow with friends of all kinds... furry or otherwise!!  :-)

It's Thursday and that means....

HIP HOP!!!

Has reality sunk in for you yet?  I know that I am still so excited about the fact that Hip Hop is back, and that {ippity} DT girls get to play along on the Hip Hop too!!

So here is the drill...

The Hip Hop starts at the Unity blog

Start hopping by going to the first DT members blog.
Each blog will be equipped with these new buttons
so you know exactly where to click to get to the next blog!

Keep clicking away to each of the Unity and {ippity} DT members blogs
until you end up at the {ippity} blog where Maria will have a new tutorial for you!!

Sound like fun?

If you are here from Eva's blog then you are on the right track!

My card for you today is inspired in two ways (well three if you count the wonderful {ippity}
stamps that I used!  LOL!)  The first inspiration is from the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger!

My color scheme and the idea for the big bow with the button came from this amazing card designed by Heidi Van Laar  which was chosen to be the Moxie Fab Trigger this week!

I also was inspired by this week's Hip Hop Sketch challenge HHSC02

Jimmi gave us this awesome sketch to work with and I really loved getting to play with it! Now it is your turn to give it a try and share with us on the {ippity} forum what you create with it!

The {ippity} stamp set I used is Where You Should Be  (Which I have on sale this week!)

I just love this sentiment.  It is such a true statement and one that all young people need to learn and appreciate.  I am going to send this to my daughter who just found out she was accepted to Vet School at the University of FL!  She is going to need a lot of strength and courage to make it through the next four years of college!!  But I am so proud of her and know that she will do very well!!

To make the bow and flower embellishment, I started by layering two felt flowers and one button on top of each other.  I stitched them together with embroidery floss that I stained with a Copic marker.  I then glued that to the bow that I made from Dollar  store satin ribbon!!  I think it is so pretty!!

I plan on sharing a tutorial with you on the {ippity} blog  in the near future on how I created the ruffle at the bottom of the card.  Nothing special, but something that might help you make ruffles if you don't already know how to!

The DP I used is from the Bo Bunny Kitchen Spice line which is from the same collection as Heidi's card above!  I threw in a little paper piercing and some light highlighting with a Spica Atyou pen by Copic.  Unfortunately the glimmer didn't photograph well in this picture!

One last thing!!

{ippity} stamps has a Fan Page on Face Book!!
We are over half way to reaching our goal of getting 300 Fans and then there will be a prize given out!

Will you join us too??

Let's Hear it for the Boys!!

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday to you!!

I hope you all had a chance to check out (and even purchase) some of the new Whimsie Doodle stamps that were released yesterday!!  And today I have another sample to share with you that uses one of them.

The card I made today is for this week's Whimsie Wednesday Challenge #26 called Let's Hear it for the Boys.  Nicole is our hostess this week and since two of her boys have birthdays this week she thought that it would be wise to challenge us to make a card for a guy!!

Thankfully Melyssa released the perfect image yesterday to work with so this is what I came up with!

This was a really fun card to make!!  Swing Koale takes center stage on his rope swing which is attached to the tree from the Sunny Day set at Whimsie Doodles that was released last year.  I enlarged it quite a bit and originally was going to cut it off at the cord borders even with the card on top, but decided to leave it extending over the edge instead.  The finished card is 5 x 6.5 when closed!

I started with the SCS Sketch SC17 for the bones of the card and then I went a little crazy with adding things that you probably don't see on the sketch!  But heck... we do get some creative license while designing right??

See the resemblance??  The number 2 panel is the grass that I made by piecing some MME paper, trimming the edge to make it appear to have blades of grass and then shading it and adding grass sprigs with various green colored Copics.

Koale was colored in using my Copics. I chose orange for his shirt because I thought it was a complementary color for the greens and blues that were in the MME papers.  The tree top is from the Quite Contrary collection.  The sentiment is from one of the Changito sets by Stampendous.  The inside says "Hi!"

My friend Vianna shared a link to Sherrie Siemen's blog who is a Regional Copics Certified Instructor.  She has a video HERE that you can watch to learn how to shade around images to give better depth to your designs.  I knew about shading before but not to this extent.  So I gave it a try and will definitely be practicing this more.  When you look at it from a slight distance you can appreciate the effect better!  But this is a great technique to have in my Copic's repertoire of tricks!!  Thanks Vianna!!

That's all I have for you today!!  Be sure to visit Whimsie Doodles
and get your New Releases if you haven't already!!

Then come back tomorrow for another Hip Hop with Unity and Ippity DT members!

Have a wonderful day and may your bucket overflow with the happiness you get when a friend swings by to say hi to you!!  :-)

We Have some New Whimsie Doodles for You!

Can you believe it has been a month since the last Whimsie Doodles release?
Well it's now April (wow!) and that means it is time for a new set of stamps from WD!

 Yeah!!

Whimsie Doodles is ready to "swing" into Spring with some adorable new images!  All of these images are available starting today in the Whimsie Doodles store. Melyssa  has come up with some wonderful stamps that you are going to love!! Not only are they amazing designs, but her pricing is wonderful too!

I have a card to showcase for you that shows off her new stamp called
Flowers From Leah

Isn't she just adorable?  I decided she looked like a sweet little girl who has some flowers to give to her Mommy for Mother's Day!  I used a sentiment stamp from SU to pair with this image.  The sketch is one of the SCS card sketches SC16.

Leah was colored in using Copic markers in colors to match the DP from Bo Bunny's Jazmyne line of papers. The image panel and card base are matted in Bazzill cardstock to match.

This stamp is so versatile.  You could use it for a thank you card, an apology card, a congratulatory statement,  a thinking of you, missing you... and the list goes on!!  What a sweetie she is!!

Here are the rest of the New Releases coming out today!

Sow Leah

Swing Leah

Hot Mama

Visit my blog regularly and you will see some samples made with these other new releases too!!  I can't wait to play with them all!!

Right Where You Should Be!

Good Monday Morning!

I hope you all had a very Happy Easter!  My family had a wonderful gathering and I got a chance to spend time with all my siblings including the step brother and sisters that I grew up with but are no longer related to us  through marriage!!  But we all are still close including my mom and her ex-husband!  It was a fabulous day eating, laughing and boating on the Gulf of Mexico in Florida!

Today is  Monday which means it is time to Hippity Hop!

Hippity Hopping is where {ippity} peeps sign up  to have their blogs showcase creations made with {ippity} stamps.  Eryn is our hostess today and she has also chosen our challenge for this week.
 For this week's {ippity} Hippity Hop Challenge 18 (IHHC18)
she has asked us to make a
trifold card.

We hope you will play along with us!  The Resource section on SCS has some tutorials that can teach you how to make one!

I used the {ippity} sentiment from the set called Where You Should Be.  If you read my interview on the {ippity} blog from Saturday then you might remember that this is my favorite {ippity} set.  It means so much when you think about it.  And it reminds me to find peace with where I find myself in life sometimes because there is a reason I am there!  That's a comfort to me!!

The dimensions of the trifold card are as follows...

  • The finished size is 4 x 5.5 inches
  • The left flap with the flower DP from October Afternoon and the flower measure  4 x 3 3/8in.
  • The right flap (not including the sentiment panel) is 4 x 2 1/8in.
  • The sentiment panel is 2 6/8 x 2 6/8in. and extends over the edge of the right flap by 7/8 of an inch.

So to create this card just start with a base piece of card stock that is 4 x 11 and score the piece at 3 3/8 from the left and 2 1/8 from the right and decorate away!  I hope you will give this one or another trifold card a try and share it with us in the SCS Gallery.  Put IHHC18 and ippity as your keywords!!

The card was designed to follow Sketch 13 (SC13) from SCS Master sketch list.  I am still working my way gradually through all of them!

I only included a stamped sentiment on this card because that is what today's CAS (CAS61) challenge on SCS is.  You can see what the rest of my fellow DT members made for this challenge by visiting the forum HERE.  It was  great challenge to make the card look pretty from the front without using any pretty image stamps.  But this sentiment was perfect!!  :-)  I hope you will play along with us too!!

To help keep the card closed I created a little cut in the left side panel to tuck the right flap under.  I later covered that up with the flower that you can see above!

Here you can see a picture of the trifold card partially opened.

And here it is opened completely showing the inside of the card ready for the greeting to be written!

Are you looking to purchase the Where You Should Be set at a sale price today?
Check out my sales blog HERE!

I am looking forward to the hop today as I always find such wonderful inspiration from viewing your blogs! Have a fabulous Monday and may your bucket on the first day of this week be filled with achievable goals and the motivation to get them done!!

One With Nature

I am so happy to be scrapbooking again and I can't thank Unity enough for giving us weekly sketches to work with. It is a perfect match for the wonderful scrapbook stamps that they sell to now offer great sketches to use them with.  If you want to try using some of their sketches, just check out the Unity Forum at SCS for the latest sketch!

Here is the sketch for this week.  It is USCSSC02.

I had some pictures to use from about year ago when my husband and I took a weekend away for his birthday and went camping on the Homosassa River.  It was a very special time and some of our fondest memories as a couple.

The DP I used is from Bo Bunny's U Bug Me and Roughin' It lines.  The stamps I used are all Unity and include the Distressed Dots background stamp that I stamped twice to make a mat for the photo.  I also used the Relax it's your Day stamp from March's Stampin' Store Kit, called Adventures in Life.  And then the last Unity stamp I used was the bracket stamp from the latest Scrapbooking Kit called Favorite Things. I used four of them to create the border on the bottom of the layout.  I stamped them in SU's Pumpkin Pie ink onto cream CS and then trimmed close to the edge of the stamp.

The letter stickers are from the BB Roughin' It Combo Stickers sheet.  The Fishing sign and arrow were cut from some of the coordinating papers.

The journaling lines are actually part of the journaling block from {ippity's} Life's Little Moments set.  (Which can be purchased from my {ippity} sales blog HERE!) I masked off the parts that I didn't want to use and just used the lines so my journaling would be straight.

The journaling says  "March 2009- We celebrated Tom's birthday camping on the Homosassa River.  We spent the day exploring by kayaks.  Tom got to do some fishing."

I am not sure who makes the fly fishing lure that I used because it was no longer in its original packaging!  Sorry!

I stamped the Relax stamp onto orange coordinating paper and placed it and the fishing sign onto a piece of slightly larger chipboard that I also stamped with the Distressed Dots.

Overall I am pretty happy with this, but find it just as hard to make a masculine layout as I do to make a masculine card! LOL!

Seeing Tom on his kayak makes me happy to know that we will be doing some kayaking on Easter Sunday with our family!! It should be fun... it's been a long time since we have had them in the water!

Have a wonderful Saturday and may your bucket overflow with time spent doing your favorite outdoor activities!  I probably won't be posting tomorrow, so please have a Blessed Easter too!!

Have a Rockin Friday!!

Hello Unity Friends!

Welcome to my blog today!!  It's Friends With Flair Friday and in typical fashion I have a Unity project to share with you! but before we get to that, did you guys have a blast with us celebrating the come back of Unity's Hip Hop?  It was so wonderful!! I enjoyed it and look forward to many more!!

I tried to get my layout done using this week's sketch, but I ended up at work last night until late and wasn't able to finish it. I do however have a card to share with you!!

For this card I used the jukebox from Unity's March 2010 KOM called Rockin it Unity Style.  I love this kit!! In fact I love all their kits!! LOL!!  Have you joined the Kit of the Month Club yet?  The bargain is amazing!!  April kit is just being released... so be sure to join in!!

I colored the image in with Copic markers in colors that coordinated with the Cosmo Cricket Paper from the Lil Man line.  The sentiment was created on my computer using Word so it would be just right for the guy we were giving this card to in honor of his 40th birthday!  I love the retro feel that both the paper and the image give to this card!! Plus he is an avid lover of rock music, so he thought it was great!!

to go to the Unity Blog for the list of today's FWF particpants.

Be sure to be on the lookout for the hidden FWF Blinkie
and a chance at winning some free stamps!!

Have a Rockin Friday and may your bucket overflow with your favorite tunes that put you in a good mood!!

The bunny and sentiment for my card come from the {ippity} set called

I colored the bunny in using Copic markers and popped it up on pop dots!  I stitched around the panels and zig zagged down the edges of the card base.  I stitched a basting stitch onto the cream satin ribbon and then gathered it allowing it to twist and turn.

The DP is from the new line of October Afternoon that is supposedly being shipped as we speak!!  Yeah!!
