Lovin From the Oven

Good Morning everyone! I hope you had a great holiday weekend!  I know that I did.  My scrap room was pretty close to perfection yesterday when I started working on my project, so now it is a little messy again!  Oh well!!  I will keep working on it!!  :-)

Today is the last day of November which means that it was my last time to post on the Unity blog as their Guest Designer!  You can see my post HERE (after 10 am CST) Sniff sniff!!  But thankfully I will still get to remain involved with that wonderful group of Unity people through {Ippity}!!  Yeah!!

For my last GD project, I decided to make a Recipe Book cover to hold all of our families' favorite recipes.  I am going to make three of them (maybe four!) One for each of my daughters and possibly my future daughter in law too!   The perfect Unity set for this project is called Kitchen Logic. You can't buy it right now, but it was available for a brief pre-release period, and will be available again in the spring after the Winter CHA in January!

I used the adorable stove image and the sentiment that says "Nothing says LOVIN' like something from the OVEN!"  Isn't that the cutest??  I paper pieced the kitchen towel and colored the rest of the image in with Copics.  The heart I drew free hand and then matted with a some more of the red DP.

I am so happy about how I made my cover too! I was being very green!  After I buy Unity stamps that come in those cute little brown recycled packages, I put them into CD cases that I keep on a CD rack near me.  I have been saving those packages since the beginning and I am getting quite a collection of them in my stash!  So I decided to use some of them to create my covers.  I cut them down to be a little larger than the 4 x 6 recipe cards that will go inside the books and I glued two of them together.  Then I used Modge Podge to coat the exteriors to keep them more waterproof since they will end up in the kitchen where it might be wet!  The title was stamped believe it or not with cheap stamps I picked up from the Dollar spot at Target.  Of all nights, my printer ran out of ink and I wasn't able to print the title out as I had originally intended!

I will make a picture tutorial for you and show you exactly how I made my covers in an upcoming post! :-)

The DP I used for this project came from the BG Nook and Pantry  line and also from Flair Designs "What's Cooking" line.  They both give a very warm homey feel and had great muted colors that went perfectly with the Kraft colored covers.  I added the three buttons for accents on top of the ribbon and lace trims that I chose.  I was going for the vintage cook book look with this project!  I hope that you like this and might be inspired to create a cook book or album of your own using some recycled packaging!

I will be back again with more inserts for this book as I create them.  I am thinking that this may end up being a Christmas gift for the girls if I can get them done in time.  I found some self-adhesive clear pockets that will fit 4 x 6 cards that can be adhered to the interior pages and allow the card to be removed for use and then replaced afterward for storage. I am really excited about sharing our favorite recipes with my girls and also giving them this book that I think they will cherish into their adult years!

I hope you have a wonderful Monday and may your bucket overflow with many ways to create lasting memories for your family!

I'm back with SheetLoad Sneak Peeks!!

Some of my regular followers may have been wondering where I disappeared to since Thanksgiving!  In case you noticed that I hadn't been posting,  I will explain why.  Friday I rose at 3am after getting only two hours of interrupted sleep to do the traditional Black Friday shopping spree with my mom, my sister and my sister in law.  We had a great time together and I got a lot of my shopping started!

From there I had one of those rare weekends where I pretty much had the house to myself.  My husband and most of the kids were away this weekend visiting other family members and I wasn't able to go because I was on call.  So I took advntage of the time here at the house and have been overhauling, reorganizing and cleaning my scrap room.  It was in a shambles and I knew if I didn't get a handle on it before the holiday projects and cards took over my room, it wouldn't happen for a while.

I still have more to do and even some cards to make later today, but it will be a lot of fun creating in a clean and organized space!  This week should be a full week of posting so be sure to come back tomorrow for a Unity post which will be my last one as Guest Designer for them this month! :-(

I will leave you with a sneak peek of my  projects coming out in the December issue of SheetLoad of Cards.  The issue will be available for download on Tuesday December 1st.  For more sneaks of the biggest issue ever, click on the link HERE!

I hope you have a happy Sunday and enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend!  May your bucket overflow with good times, good food and family!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello to all my  family, friends and Blog friends!!  I hope that you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I am blogging with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on in the background and the to the smell of Pumpkin pies cooking in the oven.  A little later today we will be heading to my sister's where she will be marrying her soul-mate!  Here is a picture of Michelle and Claude.  We are so happy for them!  They really have a magical relationship with each other and I know they will have many years of magic in marriage together!

Speaking of magic, what really brought you here today is the Unity DT Blog Hop!  Today we our showcasing the November KOM called Simply Magical!  It seemed appropriate today to share with you the wedding card that I made for my sister and Claude using two of the stamps from this month's KOM.

It's almost like the love they have for each other comes from some special Pixie dust that was sprinkled upon them, because they are so cute together! This sentiment is so fitting for them!

On the outside of the card it says...

All you need is faith, trust & pixie dust...

And on the inside I have...

...for a marriage that will "make the everyday magical!"

The wand and swirling stars and the sentiments on both the inside and outside of the card come from the November KOM.  The frame that I made by masking the center of the scalloped and checked block is from the November Scrapbooking Kit.  I used papers from Scribble Scrabble and kept the colors in the fall family since they are getting married on Thanksgiving today!

Do not miss the Black Friday specials going on over at the Unity store today. You can check out all the details on the Unity Blog.  You will find specials that are lower priced than ever before!

May your Thanksgiving be special and your bucket overflow with many reasons to give thanks!

Happy Sweet Sketch Wednesday!!

And what a Sweet Wednesday it is!!  Not only is it Sweet Sketch Wednesday day, but it is the day before Thanksgiving for all of us in America!!  So my house is going to be filled today with the sweet smell of Pumpkin Pie later today!!  My family is getting together tomorrow at my sister's house for Thanksgiving!  We all bring dishes to pass and celebrate what we are thankful for over a huge feast of food!!  Tomorrow we have a lot extra to be thankful for because my sister is getting married to her fiancee Claude in the presence of our family! It is going to be a very sweet Thanksgiving for us!!  We are so happy that Claude will be joining our family!  :-)

So on to today's sketch and my card!

We are on sketch # 25 this week...

And this week our sketch is sponsored by my good friend Joni who is on the Whimsie Doodles Design Team with me.  Joni not only has talents in making cards, but she also has started her own company and designs Digistamps too!  The concept of her company called Inktegrity is so wonderful.  You can learn more about it HERE!

Joni has offered up a prize to one of this week's participants in the sketch challenge should they be so lucky to win!  And remember, you can' t win if you don't play along!!  The winner will receive Joni's newly released stamp set called Going Places!  Check out the Sweet Sketch Wednesday Blog for all the deets!!

Here is what I made using this week's sketch!

I love this martini glass image from Inktegrity.  What a versatile image to have in your collection.  It would be perfect for birthday cards, celebratory wishes, holidays, a ladies night night out invitiation, bachelor and bachelorette cards, and even for wedding toasts!!  Don't you think it is cute?  Of course I enlarged it quite a bit to make it the focal point of my card.  That is the beauty of digistamps... you get to resize and reorient them as you choose!!

I colored in my image using Copic markers and did a lot of blending near the edges of the glass to make it look like it had color, yet was still see-through.  The cute sentiment is an epoxy sticker that I purchased last year and was thrilled to see it not only was the perfect sentiment, but that it was the right color for this card too.  Not sure who made it, I did not keep it in its' original packaging.  Sorry!

To add a little punch, I used some stickles on the Holly Berries, added a black border that was punched with a MS punch and added some trim from BG (I believe!). The DP is from MM and I love it because it has such bold colors and a touch of black to it too!

Thanks for taking a look and hopefully amidst the time you spend in the kitchen preparing for Thanksgiving you will find some time to do some blog hopping on the DT blogs to see what they created using this sketch.  Stop on over to the SSW Blog and you can also visit the DT's blogs by linking to them from my side bar!

Have a great Wednesday and may your bucket overflow with the sweet smells of preparing Thanksgiving dinner or any thing else if you don't celebrate this day with us!

For the Love Birds

Wow! Has it really been two days since I posted any cards on my blog?  How does that happen when I feel like all I do is make cards??  LOL!!

Well I have something else to share with you today that has some of the newly released {Ippity} stamps on it!  I made an anniversary card for my dear sweet SIL and her husband for their Anniversary!

The love birds in the cage are the perfect sentiment for any love birds in your life. Why not use them on a Wedding card or a Valentine's Day card, or just cause you want to show someone they are loved.  They are the cutest little birds!  They come from the {Ippity} set called Because of You.

To make the love birds pop right off the page, I added some glitter glue that is shimmery in tones of green and blue with a really neat irridescence to it.  I love the way that it coordinated with my DP from K & Co.

The perfect sentiment for this Anniversary card came from the {Ippity} set called Just Wanted to Say.  There are some wonderful sentiments in that collection that you will be able to use over and over again!  And did you see that amazing fishnet trim I used?  I found that pre-cut at my LSS and had to grab that up.  I love it!!

I have {Ippity} stamps for sale in my hot little hands and would love to get them into your hands, so if you are interested in purchasing them at a very reduced rate (as a package deal) then please check out my {Ippity} Sales blog for more information!  Click HERE to go to my {Ippity} Sales blog!

Have a wonderful Tuesday and may your bucket overflow with reasons to sing like a caged bird who has been set free!!

Dirty Dozen Challenge Ornament

Good morning to all of you!  It is actually very close to noon here, but since I am still in my jammies (wow!) I am going to call it morning still!!  LOL!!

Every month on the 20th there is a challenge given to the Dirty Dozen and the Dirty Dozen Alumni to complete.  This month's challenge was to create a hanging ornament.  The only stipulation was that it must have something on it to hang it with.!!

This was a perfect challenge for me and for this time of year, and one thing you will learn about me is that I love Ornaments!!   I am a freak about them, I buy more every year and can't get enough of them.  I love my tree just filled completely with them and I belabor each year about how to put them on the tree to make it look balanced and complete!

Here is a picture of one of our Christmas trees all decorated!  I actually have to have two trees because I have so many ornaments.  Since I also collect Santa Clauses, I have one tree that is completely devoted to just Santa Clause ornaments!  (I told you I was a freak!)

So anyway, you get the idea!! I LOVE Ornaments!

Here is the ornament that I made for the DD Challenge this month.  It is called Silent Night...

The main image on this ornament is a Unity stamp called All Santa's Reindeer.  It was designed by Kristine Bents.  The sentiment is from Unity's collection called Bitty Christmas

Complete details on how I made this ornament can be found on the Unity blog on this coming Monday where I will be providing a Tutorial on this as Guest Designer for them this month.  So if you are an ornament freak like I am, then be sure to visit the Unity Blog on Monday and learn how to make one for yourself!

To see the rest of the DD/ DD Alumni submissions for this challenge, just click HERE to visit the Gallery!

Have a great Saturday and may your bucket overflow with lots of Christmas Ornaments too!!

Simple, Special, Stunning!

It is time for the November edition of Simple Special Stunning at the SheetLoad of Cards blog, featuring samples by Ann Seleshanko.

Each month one of our artists will share three different cards that use the current layout. Each card is a "step up" from the previous one, but they are all fabulous. It is a good way to show how SheetLoad is geared toward papercrafters of all levels.

Here are some sneak peeks to whet your appetite...

Christmas Wishes for My Unity Friends

Hey there Unity peeps!! Welcome to Unity's Friday's Friends with Flair blog hop!!  I just love checking out all the talent that Unity stamps promote!! I am always so inspired with new and fabulous ways to use their stamps each week when I visit your lovely blogs!!  So thank you for that!!

Today's post is a Christmas card... and a quick and easy one at that.  I was happy with how it turned out, but I do admit to feeling a little guilty when I don't spend a couple of hours on a card!!  LOL!  This came together in under thirty minutes and could be reproduced in far less than that!

I pulled out two of Unity's Christmas stamps for this creation.  The beautiful pine trees are called Deep Woods and they were stamped with Versamark for a tone on tone look.  This is one of my favorite ways to stamp background scenes and images.

The sentiment is from Unity's Joy & Wonder set designed by Lisa Hetrick.  It was the perfect size and sentiment for my card.  I used embossing ink and Opaque Winter Wonderland embossing powder from Stamp n Stuff by Stampendous to emboss the words and add the snow to the  trees.

The DP is from MME and I had a recycled ribbon that was perfect to add for that extra pop!  So what do you think?  Not bad for a quick and easy card.  It has a nice touch of elegance and could be the card I choose to make in mass quantities to send out at Christmas this year!

Be sure to head over to the Unity Blog and start at the top of the list of Friends with Flair!  Have you found the blinkie yet?? Someone will be the lucky recipient of some FREE stamps just for finding it and leaving a comment on that blog!

Want to see some {Ippity} stuff too???  Then head over to the {Ippity}Opportunity Blog and see the latest creation I have to share with you today.  It is a fun birthday card using several of the Ippity kits.

Need to buy some {Ippity}??  If you are interested in buying the full collection that was released this month, I have four complete sets to sell and will sell them for a very reasonable price to the first four people who contact me.  Check out my {Ippity} blog for more details and the pricing...There's Ippity in My Bucket!

Have a wonderful Friday and a fabulous weekend!  And may your bucket be overflowing with lots of inspiration as we visit our friend's blogs today!

Men are Like Crossword Puzzles

Today is Unity's DT Blog Hop and as Guest Designer this month I have the pleasure of participating in it.  If you aren't starting from the beginning, then be sure to head back to the Unity blog to make it through the whole list of those posting today!  My post for today is for the ladies out there having a rough time with that man in their lives!  It would probably be better if any men who read my blog would just hop over to the next blog! You might not want to see this!   LOL!!

Disclaimer:   I am not a man hater!  I love my husband and am not in any way trying to be disrespectful to men.....

But, with that said, I think you all can agree that we have come across men in our lives that fit the solutions to this crossword puzzle!  Am I right??

ACROSS
1. Pretentious
7. Foolish (slang)
8.  Excessive wanting of Affection
11.  Adult Male Person

DOWN
2. Stupid Person

The card I created is perfect to give to that BFF in your life who is having MAN problems.  It will let her know that you are on her side... that women stick together, and that you understand her frustrations!  I mean seriously, men can be frustrating some times!

Carrie from Sex in the City said it best....

Men in their forties are like the New York Times Sunday Crossword Puzzle:...

(Then on the Inside)

"...tricky, complicated, and you're never really sure you got the right answer."

Now isn't that the truth ladies??

The stamps I used today come from two Unity sets!  The crossword puzzle is in the November KOM   shown below...

and the pretty flourish border stamp is from the November Scrapbooking Kit shown here...

Other Supplies Used:
DP: Scenic Route; CS: Bazzill; Ink: Amuse: Black; SU: Lavendar Lace; Flowers: Prima; Brad: Doodlebug; Machine stitching.

Don't miss out on the Garage Sale going on over at the Unity Blog today!

All Kits of the Month are $35 and selected stamp sets will be 50% off!!
Woohoo!!
And be sure to check out what the rest of the DT has created for you too!

Have a wonderful rest of the day and may your bucket be overflowing with women in your life that love and support you!

Sweet Sketch Wednesday

Welcome to this week's addition of Sweet Sketch Wednesday!!  We are up to sketch number 24 this week and we have an awesome sponsor which means there is a chance at winning a prize should you decide to play along with us. As always, Arlana has a great sketch for us today!

Here is this week's sketch...

Our gracious sponsor is Sally Ann from the Digi Stamp Boutique.  Not only was she kind enough to provide the DT with an image of our choice to use today, but she is also offering up to $15 worth of digistamps from her store for the winner of this week's challenge.  Can I hear a Woot Woot!!!

So please go to the Sweet Sketch Wednesday Blog when you are finished here and see the rest of the DT's cards and also find out all the details about how to submit your card for this challenge!  Good Luck!

The image I chose to use for today's Sweet Sketch Wednesday sketch is called Jack and Snowman.  Isn't he just the cutest little fella that depicts the heart of a child playing in the snow?  I used Copics to color my images, except for the scarf which was paper pieced to match the DP.

The DP is from Karen Foster Designs that I pulled out of my unused Christmas stash from last year.  I like how it is a masculine print and went well with the little boy!  The brads are the smaller sized brads made with my I-top brad maker.  It is so fun to be able to perfectly coordinate brads with my DP.

I found the sentiment as a free download from HERE.  Donna offers a free collection of Snow related Word Art that was perfect for this image!

At this angle you can better see that I added Diamond Dust to the edge of the snowman and on the ground to give the effect of the icy shine that you get when the sun beams down on the snow!  Even a FL girl remembers what that looks like from when she was a kid!!  LOL!

Is it cold where you are today?  I hope this might have helped to warm you up!!  Please go by the SSW Blog and see what the rest of the DT has in store for you today.  May your have a really SWEET day and your bucket overflow with fun childhood memories  of  playing in the snow!

Nothing But Blue Skies!

Today I woke up feeling all motivated and raring to go!!  I guess having all my projects done for what seemed like a million deadlines has lifted the heavy weight that was on my shoulders last week. This week I am ready to get going again and I am so excited about maybe even getting a little ahead!

OK, well that will probably never happen, but hoepfully I can get started and at least keep up! LOL!

While I took Tasha out to do her business this morning I looked up and there was not a cloud in the sky.  It is beautful, bright and with only a slight chill in the air.  It's perfect weather for mid November in FL!!

I thought it was a coincidence because the card that I made for the Unity blog today so fits this kind of day!!  And to think I made it yesterday morning, not even knowing what today would be like!!  Maybe it is kind of like a self-fulfilling prophecy!!  :-)

I am enjoying being a Guest Designer for Unity this month so very much!!!  I really appreciate all the visits and sweet comments that I have been getting from the Unity fans too!  Thanks so much!

Anyway, here is the card that I made for today's blog post over at Unity....

The Unity stamps used on this card are from the Le Chic Vintage Scrapbooking kit (which is SOLDOUT at the Unity site, but can be purchased HERE) and the Bevy of Butterflies kit.

I went with a collage style to make this card and was sent this direction because of a piece of Kraft paper that I had originally intended to use in one of my Dirty Dozen projects that I had "texturized."  The Kraft layer above the blue base is actually made to look like leather.  It has been crumpled and torn and then inked up. It left it with the neatest texture, look and feel and I just couldn't let it go to waste!

I added a piece of DP from foof-a-la and then this neat chipboard-like postcard that I think I bought at Michael's in a set of four.  It also comes in Kraft and went very well with the other pieces.  I thought the Postage stamp was perfect for a Post Card!!

I used Unity's Palette Ink in Burnt Umber  and then added some color to the  mix with my SU inks in Bravo Burgandy and Blue Bayou.  The flowers are from MM and the brad is from Basic Grey.

I hope that you have a wonderful Monday and get your week started off strongly. May you bucket be overflowing with nothing but blue skies (be it literally or figuratively for you northern gals!!)

New Whimsie Doodles are Here!!

First I have a little housekeeping and then I will get right on with showing you my samples for today's Whimsie Doodles release!!

First, today is my Anniversary and I wanted to take a moment to publicly tell all of you how grateful I am to have a husband who allows me the time it takes in my craft room to pursue my passion and reach my  goals in the stamping community!  These projects don't make themselves and neither do the blog posts, so you can imagine the amount of time that I spend doing these things.  I promised him the day to day and so we are going to go head out with no for sure direction in mind, but hope to end up at a local Ribfest where Zack Brown will be performing.  (Turn your speakers up if you don't know who Zack Brown is! He is the guy singing the first song on my Playlist called "Toes")  It will be a wonderful day!!

Secondly, thanks to all of you for your kind and humorous comments about yesterday's layout.  I felt really rusty getting into doing a layout again, but you all were very encouraging and inspired me to try it more often!  So that is what I am going to try and do!!

I was thrilled to death when I received a Facebook message from Marah Johnson (the lady who designed the Creative Imaginations paper called King of Rock that I used in my layout yesterday) asking me if I would let her put my layout on her blog!  Are you kidding me???  It took me all of one second to decide yes!!!Of course you can!!  I think she is posting it today, but go to her blog anyway because she has some amazingly inspirational creations on there that could leave you surfing for a while!!  And check out her collections of CI papers, I think you will be surprised to see that you have a lot of them in your stash .  I know that I do!!  Thank you Marah for contacting me!!

And Thirdly, today is the 15th of the month which means that a new Dirty Dozen Fan Club Gallery is officially open!!  The theme this month was "In Touch with Texture" and all of the projects contain really cool textures on them!! You won't want to miss it!!  And I can tell you that you will see {Ippity}, Unity and a Whimsie Doodles project in there!  I hope you will take a look!  You will have to be a Fan Club member to view it, but hopefully you will join if you haven't already!!

Now, onto the goods!!

Whimsie Doodles is releasing four new stamp sets today that are perfect for the upcoming holidays!! Have you started your Christmas cards yet???  Now you have a great excuse to do so!!

The first one is called Pull Toy Pony...

Here is my sample using this image...

Remember that the beauty of digistamps is that they can be resized and turned in any direction.  I chose to horizontally flip my image for today's card.  I colored the image with Copic markers in light girly colors and placed it on top of some cute glittery paper from MME called Winter Wonderland.  The snowflake punches and border punch and the ribbon are all MS.  The pink trim is from Joann's and I used the Nestabilitie Label 1 to cut out the shape.

The sentiment I used is from the Holiday Sentiments collection at WD.

Another set being released today is called Penguin Muffin Top...

Again I used the MME DP and some ribbon from MM and MS   This image was cut out using Nestabilitie Label 6.  The penguin was colored with Copics and a glitter glue was added to the frosting on the muffin!

At this angle you can see the glitter sparkle really well!

The sentiment I used is from the WD collection called Sweet Sentiments

The last two sets I didn't get a chance to make a sample for, but here they are anyway...

Sorry for the long post, but sometimes there is just a lot to be said!!  I hope that you have a wonderful Sunday and by the time you read this I plan on being relaxed with my husband celebrating our first anniversary!!

Have a wonderful day and may your bucket overflow with fun ways to celebrate your day today!!

I Scrapbooked Some Unity!

Today I have the pleasure of being part of the Unity Design Team's blog hop that is showcasing this month's Stampin Store Kit called Believe in Fairytales.

Look at these beauties!!  Every image is just wonderful!  What a very useful kit!! I plan on using mine over and over again!  Folow the link above to learn more about this kit and find a store where you can purchase it.  This kit is only for sale in retail stores and not on the Unity site.

I have a scrapbook layout to share with you today!

Promise me that you aren't going to laugh at me!

You promise???

It has been a long time since I scrapbooked, but when I saw one of the images in this month's store kit I knew exactly what I wanted to do (even though I also knew it would put me in a position to be laughed at!)

One year ago tomorrow (20 pounds lighter and much tanner) I was in my BFF's hotel room getting ready to marry the man of my dreams Tom!  Here's a picture of us!

We were all so excited for this big day that I had anticipated and dreamed about for so long.  We were taking pictures of me getting ready in the bathroom while I was taking care of all the final details.

When I got the photos back I was shocked to realize that we had forgotten one small detail in all our excitement!  So here I am, the Queen of the Day, in all my glory...

Now check out my throne....

OOPS!!!  Didn't mean for that to happen!! LOL!!

OK you have my permission... you can laugh at me too!!

Here is what my journaling says...

Here are  the Unity Stamps that I used to make this layout:

Crown, "If the Crown fits" sentiment and journaling block (November 2009 Stampin Store Kit:  Believe in Fairytales)
Decorative border strip and corner (November 09 Scrapbooking Kit: Capture Life)

Other supplies:  Ink: Amuse; DP: Creative Imaginations; Flowers: BG and Kaiser; Decorative Brad: Creative Imaginations; Rhinestones: Michael's; Title Font: Reprise Title; Arrow and Title words: Created in Power Point.

To see the rest of the DT members posts using the November Stampin Store Kit,
please go to Angela's blog and follow the list!

Also remember that there is a 30% off sale going on all weekend at Unity!!
What a great time to stock up on some of those stamps you have been dying to have!!

Thanks for all your help yesterday helping me choose the card I will give to my husband for our Anniversary!  70% of you chose yesterday's collage card and so that is what he will be getting!!

Scroll down for sneak peeks of some of the new
Whimsie Doodles digistamps
being released tomorrow.

I will be back tomorrow with samples using the new WD's but for now I am off to finalize my Dirty Dozen projects for this month's Fan Club Gallery that goes live tonight at Midnight!!

Have a great day and may your bucket overflow with lots of laughter, even if it is at yourself!  :-)
