Hello my Friends with Flair and fellow Unity Stamp Co. fans!! I am going to make this post short and sweet and with very minimal verbiage!!
I am sharing with you today the four cards that were created for the stamp class that I taught at Priceless Scrapbooks last weekend in Ocala, FL using Unity Stamps. I am so happy that Tricia decided to start carrying Unity stamps and I can't wait to go there and teach another class!! The ladies were a lot of fun!!
The stamp set we used is Could I Be Any Cuter by Unity, and the DP was from the SunKissed line by Bo Bunny!! Besides letting the ladies know how wonderful Unity stamps are, the point of my class was teach the them how to make their patterned paper work for them!!

You know that I love my Ippity, but if you know me at all, then you know that my first, true stamp love affair was with Unity. I LOVE my Unity stamps and cherish every chance I get to play with them!! I have a fun card to share with you today that uses the adorable stamps from the Super Sweet and Stuck on You Stampin' Store Kit (not available on the Unity website) and some adorable October Afternoon paper.
My inspiration for this card came from looking through the blog of a talented designer namedPeet Roeven. Two of my friends (Eva and Vianna) suggested I look at her talent this week. And they were right... it was very inspirational to see her creations. I love the way that she uses a lot of layering in her cards and also combines many frames on her projects!
To create the layered frame you see here, I stamped the gingham frame twice. Once with SU's Taken with Teal and once in Old Olive. Then I cut out around both the inside and outside of each frame leaving them hollow. I placed the teal frame on top of the green one and turned them so that they were staggered. I glued them so that they would stay in place. Next, I turned the combined frame over and traced around the outline onto a cream colored cardstock that I had stamped in SU's More Mustard ink with the background image from the April 2010 Together We Bloom KOM. Then I cut that base out and attached it underneath the frame with pop dots! I stamped my sentiment inside the frame using SU's Chocolate Chip ink.
I colored the owl with my copics and then removed some of the color using a clear colorless blender. The "branch" is actually a flourish from a Fancy Pants chipboard collection. I colored it with a brown Copic marker and added a coordinating bow to it. The cute flowers added to the bottom are stickers from an OA collection. I added brads to the centers of each of the flowers!

I created this card today using two stamps from the {ippity} scrapbooking set from the Fall collection called Life's Little Moments. I stamped the main sentiment as the focal point and then also stamped one of the collage stamps onto the three little circles. The DP is from Graphic 45's Botanicabella collection. The black trim was a loose trim I purchased from my LSS, and the rust colored trim was purchased from Michael's.
For the layout of my card I used this week's Unity Hip Hop Sketch #3.

I stamped the focal sentiment using black embossing powder. The butterflies were from the Graphic 45 paper and were cut out and glued on with dimensionals.
The circles were cut using EK Success circle punches and Nestabilities! All the edges were distressed with Jumbo Java ink! Machine stitching was added to the outer background panel!

This is one Hot Mama isn't she?? Why do I fear that this will be me in another decade? LOL!! I sure hope not, but I know you have seen this woman out there before!! I colored the Hot Mama image using Copic markers. The DP is from October Afternoon!
The front of the card says... "Don't think of yourself as old....
Then on the inside, it finishes with...you are, but don't think about it!!" LOL!! Too funny isn't it?
I found an old Basic Grey circle tag that matched the purple accents I chose to include on this card and I used it to mat the cake. I was trying to draw more attention to the cake since it is for a birthday. I also added some orange rhinestones around the outside edge of the mat.
If you are thinking that this isn't my typical style then you are correct. I was purposely going for a rather bold and outspoken color combo to match the whimsy of Hot Mama!! I can see an old Grandma wearing this outfit...can you? LOL!
I also did something I don't typically do by using black cardstock as my card base. Totally out of the comfort zone of my usual white or cream card bases.
It was fun to create this and be rather obnoxious!! I hope it still found the right balance and blend of colors to please the eyes!!

So clearly I am a little behind schedule today!! I have been busy with work...had to stay late last night, then return first thing this morning. Which means that my blog post for today is just now getting posted!
I wanted to share with you the CAS DT card that I made for this week's challenge!! Miss Boo hails from Michigan (as do I many years ago,) and she has inspired us with some gorgeous postcards from photos taken at Mackinac Island (pronounced Mackinaw.)

The DP panel is from K & Co. The tulips were colored with Copics!
The sentiment is from the Unity Store Kit called Sweet Affectionsfrom Dec 09.
I also masked off the oval that I diecut using a Nestie and sprayed a light blue background using the Copics Air cans. The red ribbon gingham is from Michael's. I just love these tulips... and you guys who know me might remember that seeing the tulips in bloom in the Netherlands is on my Bucket List!! I really pray to go there someday!

I colored the bunny in using Copic markers and popped it up on pop dots! I stitched around the panels and zig zagged down the edges of the card base. I stitched a basting stitch onto the cream satin ribbon and then gathered it allowing it to twist and turn.
The DP is from the new line of October Afternoon that is supposedly being shipped as we speak!! Yeah!!

For starters, I have tons of pollen building up on my car and causing allergy attacks that you can't believe and everything is turning green and finally getting warm again!! But secondly, I also have a card to show you that literally has some SPRING to it!!
Today is Wednesday which means that the Whimsie Doodles Paper Craft Planet Group has issued a new weekly challenge!! This week Joni has challenged us to make a Spring Card!! They are really cool and not too hard to make. All the directions on how to make them (along with a video) can be found HERE in the SCS Resource center! I hope you will give one a try and share it with us on thePCP Forum HERE.

I used the Easter Basket stamp from Whimsie Doodles for the image and then added the adorable Basket Case sentiment from the Easter Sentiments set. Both of these stamps are available only in rubber form. I colored the basket in using Copic markers to coordinate with the Bo Bunny paper from the Kitchen Spice line.
I added two rows of grass from a MS punch, one under and one over the basket to add dimension. Then I also added an accent ribbon using MS's dotted blue ribbon. I popped the basket up a bit using pop dots!
Here is a better view of how the card pops up when it is fully opened. Isn't it so cute? I had never seen this fold technique before and really love how it looks!! I will definitely be doing this again!!

I have a couple cards to share with you today. The first one is one of the CAS DT cards I made for a recent challenge. It is challenge CAS58 from the 15th where we were to be inspired by the colors of chocloate mint chip ice cream (Miss Boo's favorite!)
Here is what I made...
I used Unity's set called Leap For Life which can only be purchased from a retailer. Keeping it clean and simple I stamped the cattails on the cream card base with Close to Cocoa SU ink. Added a strip of BG Origins paper that I border punched and then paper pieced the frog on the lily pad and set him on top. The sentiment was stamped with SU's Old Olive.

I have two more cards to show you, but they are the same! Remember about a month ago that Taylor VanBruggen held a drive to collect Dragonfly sympathy cards for parents who have lossed babies during pregnancy or infancy? Well I made the girl cards and shared them HERE. But I had never finished the boy cards. So I finally did.
Using Unity's dragonfly from the Oct 09 Stamping Store Kit (only available at retailers)
and the sentiment from the Nov 08 KOM I created these two boy cards to send in...
The baby footprints are from a Paper Trey Ink's sympathy set. I used DP from DCWV Baby boy Nursery and added lots of machine stitching.
The sketch I used is from SCS Sketch Challenge Master list. It is SC20.
I did take the liberty to add an additional layer of matting and also the vertical ribbon from Martha Stewart. But I think it totally still looks like the sketch!
Here is a closeup of the dragonfly. I just love this! I think my friend Kelli Caslow designed it too! I let my Copics go outside of the lines for this image because I was going for a soft staining of the paper almost like a watercoloring. I was simply trying to accent the images. I also added a fine line of stardust Gelly roll ink to the edges and body of the dragonfly to make it sparkle. You can see the shine from the angle above the best!!
So to start at the beginning of the hop and not miss one bit of inspiration,
With yesterday being the first day of spring I decided it was time to start my spring cleaning this year. I spent many hours yesterday deep cleaning parts of our house with intentions to do the same thing today!! It is no fun doing it, but sure wonderful when you can sit back and relax and enjoy the fruits of your efforts!!
So I finished this card earlier this week and hadn't had a chance to post it yet.
It combines a Think Ink #16 challenge on the Artful Inkables blog to make a Birthday card and this week's SCS Color Challenge (CC262,) to use Elegant Eggplant (or Rich Razzleberry), Old Olive and Orchid Opulence. At first I wasn't sure I would like those colors together, but in fact I really do love that combo. And what was even a greater surprise was that those colors are some of the colors in the new line of Kioshi papers by Basic Grey. So it was nice to use some of those papers for my creation.
I used the AI stamp set called Fairy Whimsy. I thought these flowers and butterflies were so pretty to wish some one a magical birthday! The birthday sentiment on the ribbon tag is actually made on the computer, but the rest of the words and images are all from Artful Inkables. I colored the images in with my Copics.
The butterflies were stamped twice with the second set mounted on top of the first with dimensionals to give it depth and dimension. I created the background effect by sponging on inks and then spritzing with Tattered Angels Shimmer Mist. The color challenge had a "dessert" option to add swirls which I did by using my paper piercer adding a trail for one of the butterflies!

Did you know that today is the first day of Spring?
I wish I could believe it from a weather standpoint here in FL! I hope that this may finally mean that warm weather and flowers and green grass will be coming our way soon!
Fitting for the First Day of Spring, Joanne Basile, one of the Dirty Dozen Alumni has challenged all past and present Dirty Girls to make a card with spring in mind! We were to use either Birds or Bees on our cards, and we were restricted from using a border punch!! What? No border punch!! That's horrible!! LOL!! But somehow I managed...
I knew immediately that I wanted to use this momma bird feeding her baby birdies image from Unity'sSpring Unity set. I just think it is so adorable. Plus, it was created by my good buddie Heather Rolin who designs many stamp sets for Unity and Ippity and is also the Guest Designer for Ippity stamps for the Winter Release term. The cloud and sentiment are from the Sweet Thoughts of Spring Ippity stamp set
The colors from this sweet Bo Bunny paper that I bought while on my excursion with my Stamp TV Buddies were perfect to fit the bill for this springy card. I just love the oranges, blues and browns in this set! I cut away one of the floral branches and attached it to the image panel so it looked like the bird and its' nest was resting on it. The images of the birds were colored with Copics, and the bird nest was paper pieced. For a final touch I also machine stitched the base layers.

I was so excited to find out what the new challenge was this week for the CAS Forum on SCS.Jen challenged us (with CAS57) to create a CAS card that layers more than one shape on top of each other. Since I had just received a wonderful package including all the new Nestie Labels, I knew exactly where to go for my shapes.
I started by using the largest label in Labels 12 to make the base of my card. To be able to use the Nestie as the card base, you just have to be sure that you make the cutting edge of the Nestie hang over the fold so that it does not cut into the hinge. For this card the fold is at the top and the finished card is approx. 3.5 in x 3.5 in. Next I layered the same shape two sizes smaller using DP and then added my image panel that was cut with Labels 11.
This adorable stamped image is also new to me. This is the Unity set called Stitched Greetingsthat is only available for purchase from Unity Retailers. You can find the list of online and brick and mortar stores selling Unity on their website HERE. I colored the image in with Copic markers. This shot makes it appear orange, but it is actually red and matches the cute sample piece of Crate Paper DP from the new Paper Doll Collection that I picked up at CHA..
