Hip Hop Ippity Gift Idea

Happy Hip Hop!!

I've missed you guys.  I've been a little busy these days trying to keep up with all the happenings going on at work and also preparing for the upcoming Christmas celebration!  My family LOVES Christmas and we like a lot of lights and we have two trees and even a Christmas Village that we put out!  So needless to say I have been trying to get it all done and it hasn't left me much time to blog or craft!  I hope you can understand!  :-)

Next on my list is to tackle my Christmas cards and some hand made gifts to give away this year.  And that's just what I have for you today!  We all need easy gift ideas for this time of year, don't we?  Well I have one to share with you that you can literally finish making in less than 30 minutes!!  Woohoo!!!

Maybe you have a co-worker or a neighbor that you'd like to give a gift to, but you don't have  a lot of money or time to spend.  Then why don't you make something like this beautiful candle cover made from vellum and a recycled jar!

I stamped Ippity's So This is Love winter trees stamp several times onto a length of vellum that  is long enough to wrap around the jar with a bit of extra overlap.  I used vellum tape to secure the ends together.  Ippity's Hybrid ink in the Burnt umber was the perfect color to stamp with and it dried well with just a bit of my heat gun applied to it.  (Take care not to burn the vellum or make it curl!)  To make the birds red I simply colored over the images with a Copics marker before stamping!

The snow was created first by tearing a plain white sheet of typing paper and applying it to the underside of the vellum.  Then I sprayed an adhesive using a mask cut to match the snowbanks and applied white cotton flocking powder on top of that!

Here is the candle lit up with a battery operated tea light illuminating it!  It has such wonderful glow and shows off these amazing tree silhouettes so nicely!!

Why don't you try one of these! I would love to see what you come up with if you do!

Here is the Ippity stamp set used to make today's project!

Do you need to get the Ippity stamp set that you see used here?

Seasons of Joy!

Well hello there and Happy Hip Hop!!

It's Thursday again and that means that it is time to head over to the

where you can start hopping around to all the DT member's
blogs from Unity and Ippity!!  Don't forget to also hook up with us
throughout the day for some chatting on the SCS Unity Forum.

For today's Hip Hop Sketch Challenge, we have a really awesome one that was made by our wonderful guest Designer Angie Blom

Do you ever see a sketch and almost instantaneously know what you want to do with it?  Well that is what happened with me to day and I must say that I love how it all turned out!
Here is the sketch (HHSC28) for us today!

Mine might have taken just a little bit of liberty with the placement of my images,
but hopefully you can see the similarity!  What do you think??

The base of the card is made from Basic Grey's Jovial line.
Then I stamped my snowflake image from Ippity's Seasons of Joy
with Ruby Red SU ink  and cut them out and placed them on the card.

The word Joy was stamped in Bravo Burgandy and then cut out
and popped up above the snowflakes.

Can you see where I dry embossed one of the Spellbinders snowflakes onto the card base and then added sparkles with my Gelly Roller to help emphasize it? If it weren't for all the fancy cutting on this one, I would have considered sending this out as my Christmas card this year!!  Oh well, back to the drawing board for that!  LOL!

To continue on the Hip Hop, please let me direct you the ever-so-talented
Lisa Arana where you are sure to be impressed with her post for today!

We hope to see you around on the forums and thanks so much for stopping by!!

A Christmas in August Hip Hop!!

Welcome to this week's Unity/Ippity Hip Hop!

Today is the day that all the members from each DT share some projects with you.  To start at the beginning, please visit the Unity blog.  If you are coming to my blog from Karen Maldanado's blog then you are on the right track!  Just keep clicking on the Next Blog icons at the bottom of each post to continue on the Hop!!

On Monday the Ippity DT members hijacked the blog hop to help celebrate Maria's birthday by showing off the cards we made for her.  So today I wanted to play along with this week's Ippity Hippity Hop Challenge that Eva gave us this week which was to celebrate Christmas in August!  I need to thank Eva because it is actually helping me get a head start on my Christmas cards!  (Thanks Eva!!)

I also combined the Hippity Hop challenge this week with the Hip Hop Sketch Challenge that Jimmi is posting today on the Unity Challenge forum.  We are now up to HHSC19 which was also based after a card that I made.  You can see my original card HERE!

Here is this week's sketch...

Here is my new card using this sketch...

Basically I just changed the color palette to be Christmas colors and then changed my stamps to be Christmas ones too.  The fabulous Seasons of Joy stamp set from Ippity was the perfect choice!!

I stamped the label stamp in green and added the sentiment in red ink and then colored in the holly leaves for the corner adornment on the label.  I cut around the label stamp and then added a border in red. (I couldn't find my matching nestie and so I had to do it by hand! )

On the red strip of paper I embossed in white a row of the snowflakes from the same set!!

If you are looking for any of these great stamps, you can purchase them by finding an Ippity chick near you.  Simply click on the Ippity Chick Locator icon from the Ippity blog and find a rep selling them in your area!  Then just contact that chick to place your order!!  Your stamps will be sent directly to you!!

For more great inspiration, please continue the Hip Hop blog hop by heading over to Lisa Arana's blog!

Have a great Thursday and enjoy the rest of the Hop!!

My First Publication!!!

Well I am so happy to announce that I finally have a card that has been published in a paper crafting Magazine!  I can't say that I submit as much as I should, but I am going to be making that more of a focus for this coming year.

If you haven't gotten this issue of Card Creations 8 yet by PaperCrafts Magazine, I totally recommend it.  It is filled front to back with lots of very inspiring cards!!

Here is the card of mine that they chose to use.  It uses the adorable PEAS on Earth image from Whimsie Doodles.  You can find it on page 99 of the magazine!  It was so exciting to see my name in print!!  I can't tell you how thrilled I was when I heard too!!

I paper pieced the word EARTH and then colored the Peas in with my Copic markers!  The DP is some DCWV that I had on hand that could easily be replaced with similar dotted or striped papers!  The ribbon is from American Crafts!

While I am sharing a WD creation with you, I guess it is a good time to mention that I have resigned a little early from the Whimsie Doodles DT. Melyssa was gracious enough to let me end my term a month or so early so I could deal with everything going on right now.  I really appreciate her understanding and can't thank her enough for being one of the first Stamp Companies to trust me and allow me to represent them!  I just love WD images and will still be using them a lot.  So just because I am not on the DT anymore, you can still be sure that you will see more WD creations on my blog and in the galleries!!

I hope the rest of your weekend is relaxing and enjoyable! I have a little more scrap room organizing to go and then I plan to mess it all up again by making some more card creations today!!  Have a wonderful day and may your bucket overflow with health and happiness!!

I can't wait to see what you come up with!!  I love lace!!

So on to today's sneaks!! As promised we have two more sets that we are letting you get an early peek at.  And the DT has been busy creating samples for you to see.  We have a Sneak Peek Blog Hop everyday this week until Thursday, so to start at the beginning of the Hop, go to the Ippity Blog and follow the icons to take you around to all the DT members' blogs.  Then be sure to head down the list of Ippity fans that are participating in the Hippity Hop today too!! There should be tons of ippity goodness for inspiration today!

If you are coming from Karen's blog then you are already
on the right track and have made it to your next stop on the Hop!

The first reveal I have for you comes from the new Fall For You set...

I created this card using the bird cage, birds and the "in love" sentiment all from this set.  This is a CAS card that also fits the challenge for this week on the CAS Forum at SCS.  In fact, the challenge for this week is to use the sketch from one of my cards that uses Unity stamps!  You can see the inspiration card HERE!  The challenge is CAS66 and we sure hope that you will play along too!

The DP I used is from My Mind's Eye and I thought that the birds on the DP and the Birds in the stamps really had a close resemblance to each other.  I stamped and colored the birds in first using Copic markers.  Then I stamped the birdcage over it and lightly shaded the bars with a very pale gray Copic (C-1)  And to give it more dimension, I cut it out separately and popped it up on my card!

The pretty yellow lace trim is from a Making Memories collection I had on hand.  I think it is a cute little card to give to a couple of love birds!!

Next I have a sample to show you from the collection called Seasons of Joy.

It is hard to think about Christmas right now when the temps in FL have been reaching the high 80's to 90's, but since the stamps are so adorable, I didn't have any trouble wanting to play with them!

One of the wonderful things about this set is that there are TWO frames in it.  And the best part about that is that the TWO frames are the same shape and coordinate perfectly with some of the new Nesties.  The one you see showcased here that contains the Season's Greetings sentiment matches Labels 10.  To create the look you see with this label, I used my airbrush and red Copics to highlight the outer edge of the frame, then I also matted it again in the next size up with a contrasting color.  I think it turned out cute!

There are also FIVE snowflakes in this collection. You can see three of them pictured here.  I stamped them in SU's Sage Shadow and then added red rhinestones and fluorescent glitter glue to make them sparkle! The DP is from the My Mind's Eye, Quite Contrary line and the border punch is a Fiskars design.

Well that is going to do it for the peeks that I have for you today!  To continue on the Hop you are heading to the amazing Lisa Arana's blog to see what goodies she has in store for you!  Cone back tomorrow for the reveal of two more fantastic sets!

BitterSWEET Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday Everyone!!

If you have followed my blog for any amount of time you would know that on Wednesday's I usually post a card using a Sweet Sketch Wednesday sketch!  Well today is a little bittersweet because I don't have one for you.  I have had to make the decision to trim down some of my responsiblities a little so I can keep up with my own personal goals  involving my family and paper crafting.  I have decided to resign from the Sweet Sketch Wednesday DT!  :-(

I am starting this New Year with my DT work load lightened by two DT's.  As you previously knew, SheetLoad of Cards is stopping, and now I have resigned from the Sweet Sketch Wednesday DT also. I can't thank Arlana enough for allowing me the opportunity to design with all her talented ladies for the past six months.  I was always amazed with her sketches and plan to continue to use them for my personal card making, but decided that I needed to have a less regimented schedule for designing.

I am continuing with my {ippity} DT, and also Whimsie Doodles, and will finish my last three months as a Dirty Girl for SCS, but I realized towards the end of this year, that by designing for so many teams I was too busy to make cards for my friends and family members for their birthdays and anniversaries and such.  I need to have some days during the week where I can just created for fun like I used to, so I have decided to keep a cap on DT memberships.  I mean the whole reason I do this is to keep in touch with my family and friends.  So if I have been struggling to do that, then something had to give right?

I will be sponsoring a SSW sketch in the future with {ippity} stamps so I will still be involved, but I hope you understand my decision to scale back a bit! Thanks again Arlana!  It was really SWEET working with you!!

I also want to thank Alicia for everything she has done for me on the SheetlLoad DT .  She was the first person to have confidence in me enough to allow me on her DT.  I am so thankful for her and all she has done for me.  I am thrilled though to keep working with her on the Whimsie Doodles DT.  I  know she will fit in perfectly and am happy to continue to work with her!

Before I close today's post, I wanted to share the last bit of  SheetLoad of Cards submissions that were in this month's final issue...  And yes... they are Christmas again, but sorry I just HAD to share them!!  LOL!  I promise (unless I find some more I forgot to share) that these are the last of my Christmas cards!!  He he!!

I made this for the final issue of SheetLoad of Cards as my beyond the Card project. I made a set of three tags for use on Christmas gifts.  The images are all from Doodle Palace who graciously sponsored our final issue.

Here is the last tag shown on a present!  It is so cute, it doesn't even need wrapping paper.  Don't you love it when your packaging and wrapping can be part of the gift itself?

Here I used the same Gingerbread people to make a card!  Aren't they the cutest?

Well that is all I have for you today! I am still enjoying having my daughter Leah in town from college. We have plans for some shopping and for watching some more Glee on the DVD! Season 1 was released yesterday and she had never seen it before!  It is so fun to watch again!! I love that show!

Be sure to go get this week's sketch from Arlana at the SSW blog and also if you haven't done so already, please go and download your copy of the December eZine from SLC's. They both are awesome sketches to keep in your collection!!

Have a fabulous Wednesday and may your bucket overflow with enough spare time to enjoy making memories with your family!!

Feeling Sketchy?

I hate to do this to you, but I have another Christmas card to share with you!! I know, I know... I don't want to see anymore for a while either, but I made this one before Christmas for a sketch challenge and didn't get a chance to share it with you yet.

The sketch for this card is from Sketchy Thursday.  And {ippity} is sponsoring their latest sketch. So, if you decide to play along, you will have a chance at winning the Because of You stamp set from {ippity}. You have until the 31st to submit!

Here is the sketch...

And here is what I came up with after rotating the sketch and changing the square to a circle!

I used the Kissmas & Mistletoe kit from {ippity} for the snowman which I embossed with white embossing powder that has some silver glitter in it.  The sentiment is from Unity's October Stampin' Store Kit and the flourish is from Unity's January KOM.  The DP is a mat stack from DCWV, the green CS is from The Paper Co.  I used SU's real red ink and added the machine stitching and three rhinestones from Studio 18

To purchase the Kissmas & Mistletoe kit you can visit my {ippity} Sales Blog HERE.  I hope you decide to play along with this sketch too.  It is a really great sketch to keep in your stash!!  Thanks to {ippity} for sponsoring the sketch!!  Good Luck!!

Happy H{ippity} Hop!!

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

If you are an {ippity} fan then you are in the right place for today's Hippity Hop!  If you aren't an {ippity} fan, then I bet if you hop around some of the blogs today that are featuring {ippity} stamps you surely will be!!

{ippity} is a division of the Unity Stamp company and is a line of deeply etched, high quality red rubber stamps designed by some of the most talented and trendy artists out there!  Plus {ippity} stamps are special because they can't be purchased at any retail stores. They must be purchased from an {ippity} chick.  It just so happens that I sell {ippity} so if you are interested in purchasing any of the stamps you see throughout the day today, please visit my sales blog for more details on how you can get some {ippity} sales of your own!

Today, Eva is hosting our Hippity Hop and she is issuing a challenge! She would like us to make a Gift Card Holder using {ippity} stamps!  What a perfect challenge for this time of year, and in fact I needed one, so I was more than happy to participate in today's challenge.  Everyone on the {ippity} DT will be sharing a Gift Card Holder that they made for today as well!  We would love for you to participate too, and if you do, please use the keyword IHHC3 when uploading your gift card holders.

For this card holder.  I created my own template.  The finished size is 4 x 3.5in.  I used the Christmas Tree stamps and Merry Kissmas sentiment from the Kissmas & Mistletoe set from {ippity}. The DP is from DCWV.  The hardest part of  making this was finding some Christmas papers to coordinate with the deep blue Dillards Gift card that needed to go inside!  LOL!

To make my gift card holder I started with solid light blue CS from DCWV.  I cut it to a size of 4 x 10.  Then I scored the piece at 3.5 in, 7 in. and 9in.

To create the flap to insert the gift card in, I turned the 7 inch fold up and tucked in the last inch so that there were no raw edges where the card slips in.  I place a magnetic strip just under where the card rests and also a small magnetic circle hidden under the ribbon on the inside flap. This way the holder stays closed more easily.

If you are interested, I will type up a tutorial for you so you can try this easy gift card holder yourself.  I think it is so much nicer than the generic ones that you get from the Department stores!

Want to see more Gift Card Holder ideas, and lots more {ippity}?  Then click HERE to start at the beginning of the blog hop. If you don't see the list there yet, it should be live by 10 am CST!

Have a great Monday!! Only 4 shopping days left til Christmas and I am getting ready to hit the stores right now! I will be back a little later in the day to visit your blogs and leave comments!!  Have fun!

May your bucket overflow with warm fuzzies on this chilly first day of Winter!!

Blog Hop! Friends with Flair style!!

Happy FWF Friday everyone!!

I was so excited to sit down yesterday and just create something with Unity.  I totally enjoyed being a Guest Designer last month, but typically we were showcasing certain sets and so I couldn't let the stamps "speak to me."  And yes, my stamps do speak to me!!  LOL!! Some of them are just begging to be used... and other's sit quietly until needed!!  Ha ha!!

So last night the stamp that was speaking to me the most was the Joy stamp from the November Stampin' Store kit  (which can be purchased at the Paper Maniac.)  I knew that I could incorporate that Joy word art into a Christmas card somehow, and God knows I am still need to finish some more Christmas cards!!

So after just a little thought... this Joy to the World Christmas card was born!

I know it might not seem like a traditional Christmas card, but I kind of like that about it!  Besides the Joy stamp from the Unity's Nov SSK, I also used the gorgeous flourish from the same set that I placed behind the world image that comes from none other than the Eco Chic set.  Edited to Add: This card fits yesterday's Ways to Use it Challenge to incorporate a Christmas Carol on your card!  WT248

I used SU's Chocolate Chip ink to stamp the sentiment and the flourish and I highlighted them both with a Sakura Gelly Roller pen.  The world stamp was colored with Copics and then punched with a circle nestie and then matted in red with a scalloped circle nestie

The DP is from K & Co's Swell Noel collection.  The snowflake dies are also K& Co.  And that neat red glittered trim is from Making Memories!

Sorry for those of you who are about done with seeing Christmas cards, but unfortunately until I get mine done, that is almost all I have time to work on!  I am ready to move on to Valentines and spring  stuff here really soon!!

Have a great Friday!
Be sure to check out the Unity Christmas Sale going on right now with 25% off everything in the store.

Sweet Angel and a Sweet Sketch!

Happy Wednesday!!

Today is an important day for two reasons..

First, it is Sweet Sketch Wednesday which means that Arlana has a new sketch for the week,

And secondly, it is the last day that you can enter to win my BLOG CANDY!!  I will be closing the comments tonight at midnight and announcing a winner tomorrow!  A link is provided at the bottom of this post!

So here is this week's sketch.  We are already up to SSW Sketch #27!

This week we are sponsored by Bee Crafty Digital Downloads.   Please check out her blog where you will see some fabulous samples of her wonderful digis!!  If you choose to play along with this week's sketch, then you could have a chance to win THREE of her digis for FREE!

The Bee Crafty image that I chose to work with this week is called "Wish Fairies"  but for my creation today I am calling her an "angel" OK?  I wanted to do a Christmas card and needed an angel.  In fact this card is also being submitted into the Digital Tuesday's challenge # 36 which was to incorporate a Christmas Song into your card.  So my card is based on the song "Angels We Have Heard on High."

I couldn't help but grab some of my red and blue papers that I keep using this season.  These papers come from SEI's Winter Song collection.  Look closely at the trees above.  I added these to create a scene that my angel was watching over.  I used the Deep Woods stamp from Unity that I stamped in Versamark Ink and then lightly chalked using green chalk.  So technically the traditional colors of red and green are still present on my card! LOL!

The snowflakes are diecuts from K& Co. and the sentiment is one that I printed out on my computer.  The blue ribbon is from a collection I bought on Ebay.  I think this card will go to one of our sweet granddaughters for Christmas.  I am sure they will find this image to be as sweet as I do!

Well, this does it for today, but don't forget to visit THIS POST, and leave a comment and become a  Follower of both my blogs for up to three chances to win the BLOG CANDY that will be given away tomorrow!  I will be closing my comments out tonight at midnight.

Have a great Wednesday and may your bucket overflow with angels watching over you!

Happy H{Ippity} Hop! Our First One Ever!!

Welcome to my blog which is participating in the First H{Ippity} Hop Blog Hop featuring none other than the new {Ippity} stamps.  We are so excited about getting to hop along to many blogs this and every week that are filled with {Ippity} creations! if you haven't done so already,  I hope that you will get some {Ippity} stamps and decide to hop along really soon.

If you are interested in purchasing the complete collection of {Ippity} stamps at a very low rate, then click HERE to check out my sales blog!  And be sure to check out my BLOG CANDY contest that is still going on too. The link for that will be at the bottom of this post!

For today's H{Ippity} Hop we are also starting a week long challenge.  The Challenge on the forum this week is SNOW.  Create a card or project including SNOW on it and upload it to the SCS Gallery using the keyword IHHC1 (Ippity Hippity Hop Challenge 1).

Also include a link to your card on the {Ippity} Forum Challenge Thread and one lucky winner will receive an {Ippity} T shirt!!  Hope you will play along!

The {Ippity} DT members have made their cards already to give you some inspiration so be sure to check them out as you hop along!

The card that I created for this challenge uses the Christmas trees and the Peace sentiment from the Kissmas & Mistletoe {Ippity} stamp set.  The DP is from Webster's.  I paper pieced the trees and used gold embossing powder on both the trees and the sentiment.

My SNOW for the challenge comes in with the snowflake stamp from {Ippity's} Kissmas & Mistletoe set.  I stamped it in Winter Wonderland embossing powder. Then I also used tissue paper to create a snowy landscape.  (I will be sharing this technique in a tutorial in the near future!)

This snow technique is a fun way to create dimension and keep your card very light weight at the same time.  I added machine stitching for more detail on the snow!

Have a great time H{Ippity} hopping around today and please enjoy our first ever hop!  We hope to see your creations on our challenge  forum too!  Thanks for stopping by!
