Two New Easter Cards!

I am still working on my Easter cards to get them ready to send out this year. I love this time of year and I especially love the colors and themes relating to spring and Easter.

Here are my latest two creations and of course they are done using some recently posted challenges!

This Happy Easter card uses the sketch from Shirley's 2 Girls. I missed the deadline, but I still liked the sketch and wanted to use it! The stamp is another adorable Elzybells stamp that I got from Amuse. I love these little Chicks (or are they ducks??) and I have several of these images on different stamps of hers. The DP used on this card is from the MM Chloe's Closet set like I am giving away in Sunday's BLOG CANDY. I love these papers and will be using them a lot more in the future!

The second card is cute and feminine (IMHO) and I think I will be giving it to my sweet little GD Shaelynn for Easter. The stamp is an old SU bunny from 2001 that I bought on Ebay. I thought it looked like it was hopping and therefore made it perfect for the sentiment I chose to use. This card is full of details... from the border punch to the bunny buttons, to the fluffy embossing on the tail, to the little pearl embellishments, and even to the machine stitiching! This was one of those cards where more was never enough! LOL!

The sketch was from Paper Craft Planet's Saturday Sketch. I mirrored the image and chose to use a circle instead of a flower for the accent piece. The gingham paper is also from MM and the adorable mint green Hoppy Easter was a Michael's find this week! Love it!!

Soft Subtles For Baby / Combo Challenge

I had a little time left today to make one more card. I combined two challenges for this one. The first challenge comes from the Color Throwdown Blog. The colors we were challenged to use are the SU colors, Pretty in Pink, Barely Banana, and Regal Rose.

In addition to the color challenge, I also used today's sketch challenge at SCS. It is SC218 and here is the sketch...

So here is the card I came up with after combining these two challenges...

Unfortunately, the way it photographed has made the card appear more orange than it is. In person, the pink is definitely more dominant! The DP used is the DCWV Baby Girl Nursery collection. The CS is from SU and Georgi Pacific. The stamp is from the Little Hellos SU set. The button brads are MM, and I used the fiskars border punch under the ribbon that came from Michael's. The image was colored with Copics. I popped the stamped image up with pop dots for added dimension.

I haven't really made many baby cards so far. But something tells me that I will get an opportunity to make many more since I have found out that my neice Lindsay is expecting! I have volunteered myself to make her shower invitations and favors that we will need! That will be a lot of fun!

Shout Out to Sheetload!

One of my Riverview friends shared with me the Sheetload of Cards website many months ago and I finally got around to using some of their sketches a month or so ago. Unfortunately I never posted any of those cards. Well today I had the opportunity to use the sketches from their February Issue and I wanted to give them a shout out and thank them and Unity Stamps for sponsoring such a great issue and for providing this awesome sketch to use!

The concept of their sketches is that they will help you make many cards at once by providing you with all the right measurements and amounts of paper and embellishments you will need. Basically they take all the hard work out of making cards and leave the fun part, the assembling and embellishing to us!

What I tend to do is use their sketches to find ways to use up scraps that I have on hand from a previous project.

Below are two cards that I created using their February sketch. I varied the measurements slightly to suit my needs, but I stuck really close to the original!

Here are the other cards I told you that I had created earlier using other sketches from SheetLoad of Cards. In these I also used up some leftover materials I had lying around. It is nice to make quick cards and have some on hand for those occasions that always seem to come up.
