Giving Thanks!

It's Hip Hop time!

And today the Ippity and Unity DT members are showing off some
projects that can be used for Thanksgiving Table Decor.

My family is rich in tradition and each year on Thanksgiving we all write down what we are thankful for and share it with each other before we have our Thanksgiving blessing.  It is always fun to hear what each member of my family is thankful for and I especially love to hear what the kids have to say.  It usually evokes tears in me... I am kind of sappy that way!

What I decided to make for today's Hip Hop may not be actual table decor, but at our Thanksgiving table this year you will find one of these in front of each person's plate.

I created a "Thanks For" card for each person to use to write down what they are thankful for.

I used the leaf, the journaling stamp (turned upside down) and the word "for" from the Fall For You stamp set and the word "Thanks" from The Simple Things stamp set.  The DP is from Recollections.

Here are the sets used to create my project...

I colored the leaf in with Copic Markers and used my Gelly Roller to hightlight the veins and edges.  The words were stamped with SU's Really Rust ink to coordinate with the DP.  Three small rhinestones were added to the the little flowers on the journaling block.

It's not official yet, but it looks like I am hostessing Thanksgiving dinner for my family this year, so I better get busy making a bunch more of these!!

But now for you, please head on to the next Ippity Blog to complete the Hip Hop!

Your next stop is Lisa Arana's blog!
And make sure that to see the whole Hop that you start at the beginning at the Unity Blog!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello to all my  family, friends and Blog friends!!  I hope that you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I am blogging with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on in the background and the to the smell of Pumpkin pies cooking in the oven.  A little later today we will be heading to my sister's where she will be marrying her soul-mate!  Here is a picture of Michelle and Claude.  We are so happy for them!  They really have a magical relationship with each other and I know they will have many years of magic in marriage together!

Speaking of magic, what really brought you here today is the Unity DT Blog Hop!  Today we our showcasing the November KOM called Simply Magical!  It seemed appropriate today to share with you the wedding card that I made for my sister and Claude using two of the stamps from this month's KOM.

It's almost like the love they have for each other comes from some special Pixie dust that was sprinkled upon them, because they are so cute together! This sentiment is so fitting for them!

On the outside of the card it says...

All you need is faith, trust & pixie dust...

And on the inside I have...

...for a marriage that will "make the everyday magical!"

The wand and swirling stars and the sentiments on both the inside and outside of the card come from the November KOM.  The frame that I made by masking the center of the scalloped and checked block is from the November Scrapbooking Kit.  I used papers from Scribble Scrabble and kept the colors in the fall family since they are getting married on Thanksgiving today!

Do not miss the Black Friday specials going on over at the Unity store today. You can check out all the details on the Unity Blog.  You will find specials that are lower priced than ever before!

May your Thanksgiving be special and your bucket overflow with many reasons to give thanks!

New Releases for Whimsie Doodles!

It's November 1st and that means that it is Release Day over at Whimsie Doodles!!
Can I hear a Hooray??? Now that Halloween is behind us, Melyssa has turned her sights to the upcoming holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas and she has some awesome images for us!!

The first set she has for us is the one that I didn't get a chance to show you a sneak peek of. This one is called Muffin For Christmas! See this cute little Christmas tree that is actually a muffin inside a cupcake liner? ADORABLE!!!

Here is the whole card that I made. I used BG Eskimo Kisses paper and colored my image in with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. I added some red stickles to the tree for a sprinkle effect. The big pink satin ribbon is from Joann's. The sketch for this card uses Mojo Monday's sketch for week #110.

Included in Muffin For Christmas is the muffin and sentiment you see here and also a snowman muffin and various cupcake bases. Click HERE to see this set.
Considering Melyssa has already celebrated her Thanksgiving holiday in Canada, it was really sweet of her to make this image at the request of one of our DT members. Isn't it so cute!! And doesn't it accurately depict how we feel after eating all that food on Thanksgiving??

This is one stuffed bird! LOL! This set is called Get Stuffed!!

This card was made using papers from Recollection's Fall Paper pad. I went with the colors on the DP and colored the turkey using Copic markers. I accented the circles on the DP by adding the brads. Using Nestabilities label 3 I framed the turkey. I love that ric-rac and thought it added a perfect touch of country!!

This set comes with the turkey and sentiment you see pictured here! You can see the full set HERE. This set is located in the "This and That" section of the store!
And now one more new release for Christmas. Isn't this pair just the sweetest? You are looking at Olive the reindeer and Toasty the Penguin. Toasty is hanging on for "deer" life there isn't he??
I struggled choosing my DP for this one and finally ended up using an old BG paper from the Scarlett's letter collection. I liked that it had black in it to match the penguin, and also had some colors that worked for Christmas too. I thought it turned out to be a nice color combo and one you wouldn't ordinarily expect to see at Christmas time! Grey, black and brown are not the typical Christmas colors! Can you see where I added diamond glaze to the light bulbs?

This set is called Olive and Toasty and comes with only the image you see here. I paired it with a sentiment from the Sweet Sentiments collection that was released on October 15th! Click HERE to see Olive and Toasty.
Whew!! That was a lot!! But if you want to see more, there are still all the DT members blogs and the Whimsie Doodles Blog too that will be featuring some more of these images today so I encourage you to visit them. Just click on the names of the DT members from my side bar to visit all the WD blogs today!

Friday Friends With Flair... Who Does That??

If you know Unity stamps then you know the answer to the question in my title and their new tag line. The answer is Unity Stamps Does That!!!

What do they do???
  • They produce the most wonderful stamps around
  • They love their customers and take good care of them
  • They give a jazillion stamps away
  • They keep things fresh and fun
  • They inspire us to be better stampers and better people
  • They provide a forum for fans to get together and encourage each other

Seriously....Who does that???

I am so happy to be a part of the wonderful network of people who love Unity stamps. It is so fun to participate in the weekly blog hops and see what other talented stampers are doing with their stamps. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and checking out what I have made for today's Friends With Flair post.

I decided to make a card for this week's Unity Addicts Challenge that you can find right HERE. We were challenged to make a holiday card using Red, Pink, Blue and Kraft. And this is what I came up with...

This stamp is called Love Builds a Home and comes with a beautiful sentiment inside the big cloud, but because it didn't fit the holiday theme, I decided to mask my card to keep the words from stamping and then I just wrote in my own sentiment (Edited to Add: I wrote snow instead of woods! OOPs!!) I chose part of the quote from the Thanksgiving Song by Lydia Maria Child. I'll admit that I first thought that line went with a Christmas theme, but when I looked it up I realized it was intended for Thanksgiving. But, Thanksgiving is a holiday too right?? The DP is from MME.

Here is a closeup of the cute little house that I colored with my Copics! I paper pieced my trees with more of the coordinating papers from MME. They are blue! You know like Blue Spruce Trees!! LOL!!

I hope you are having fun looking at all the great creations on everyone's blogs. If you want to start at the beginning, just go HERE to the Unity blog around 10am CST and you will see the list of all the blogs participating. Don't forget to find the Blinkie!!!

Be sure to check out all the Who Does That? fun stuff over at the Unity Forum where there are lots of chances to win tons of stamps! Have a great Friday, and may your bucket overflow with a lot of fun things to do this weekend!
